Izzy the Jerusalem Donkey: The Mark of The Cross

"...a heart-warming children's book that follows the journey of a young donkey named Izzy."

'Izzy the Jerusalem Donkey: The Mark of the Cross' is a heart-warming children's book that follows the journey of a young donkey named Izzy, who becomes a witness to the events leading up to Jesus's Crucifixion and Resurrection. Inspired by the legend of the Jerusalem donkey, Izzy is chosen to play a significant role in the Palm Sunday scene. This book offers a fresh perspective on the Easter story, as displayed through the eyes of Izzy, a lovable and loyal companion.

I am trying to delve into a new area of Illustration work particularly in the field of children's books. Collaborating with the author (Helen) was a delight as she allowed me to express her story creatively through my illustrations.

My goal was to convey the innocence and genuine connection that followers of Jesus experience through the character of Izzy. This approach aims to make Izzy's journey relatable to children. The vibrant, bright colours provide interest and intend to evoke a particular emotion based on each scene.

I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful book, which presents children with the chance to learn about the significant and beautiful story of Jesus Christ's triumph in a new, exciting way.
